What This Means for Employers
- Check every employee's hourly rate against the new minimum.
- Update payslips and employment contracts where necessary.
- Non-compliance can result in penalties from the CCMA or Department of Labour.
Calculating Minimum Monthly Salary
For a full-time employee working 45 hours per week: 45h × 52w ÷ 12 = approximately 195 hours per month. Minimum monthly = 195 × R28.79 = R5,614.05.
